A FAMILIARISATION MEETING WITH THE CAN LEADERS AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT COORDINATORS BY S.A. RELIGION (CHRISTIAN) TO THE GOVERNOR OF KWARA STATE.
I bring you goodwill message from the Governor His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq who has shown great appreciation for your supports and prayers in attaining this height of leadership in the State. The Governor is not taking your contributions at the last electioneering for granted. He sent his gratitude and solicits that you should not rest on your oars. His Excellency desire to remind you that we are not at the destination yet, but we are on course.
Brethren, the Governor is of the opinion that the journey is far but that with the assurance of divine backing we shall sail through the challenges. Please be reminded that when we move together, we will be able to go far. We therefore must remain united and build a team spirit that can stand the test of character. Since we believe it is a possibility then; we can do it, we can achieve it and we can make it.
Let me emphasize here that we should draw our strength from the source that can never fail – the treasury of God of Heaven. He has promised to strengthen our weakened hands and make strong our feeble feet. It is not by might nor by power but by the Spirit of God. We must grow in our relationship with the Holy Spirit, be more intimate and sensitive to His instructions and leading as we serve in our various duty posts as leaders. The quest for a new Kwara State calls for emergence of visionary Leaders.
Brethren in the fold, let me use this medium to appreciate your obvious and remarkable contributions towards laying of solid foundation for the emergence of this new Kwara. The level of mobilization and sensitization of our people to their civic responsibilities is high now, we should keep the fire of awareness burning. Remember this laboring on lives is a service, first to God and unto mankind. It is a privilege to be counted on the side of God. There is no man with sincere commitment to work in God`s vineyard that is not rewarded. God shall reward you bountifully in Jesus Christ’s name.
Christian Association of Nigeria Kwara State Chapter Leaders, Sirs; we need to get close to our members, feel their pulses, meet their needs and aspirations. Our coordinators should stay among the people they are leading to be able to sympathize and empathize with their feelings and expectations. We saw this ultimate standard in our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ. He shed His Shekinah Glory and put on the character of man for Him to appropriately give a standard in your leadership role of the Local Government you oversees.
There are enormous resources both human and materials, that are waiting to be harnessed in our homelands at the suburbs of the capital city. These resources shall propel our economic growth in terms of manpower and industry. The church should rise up and be a vehicle, promoter to drive this development. You are leaders in our churches; serve as change agent for enlightenment and empowerment.
The words of late J. F. Kennedy former America President, who said “Don’t ask for what America will do for you, but what you will do for America”; at this point of our quest, we should ask and discover what we can do for the growth of Kwara state and de-emphasize what Kwara state can do for us. Please let us build a system that will sustain us and our posterity.
The church needs more political awareness to be able to participate creditably well with God’s approval in the ongoing “wall building” of new Kwara state. Our emblematic call as children of God is service. Serving God through our worship in spirit and in truth. Service to mankind in love by looking out for the good of others.
The focus for us is work before reward, investments to receive dividends. We need to uphold this time tested and rewarding legacy. We have effective mobilization machinery; let us deploy this for attainment of goals.
I plead that our Coordinators and Secretaries should go back to their various Local Government Areas and strategies in the following ways:
Mobilize every Christian for character building with the standard of the Author and Finisher of our faith, Jesus Christ. Please, let us build a church with Christ manliness in focus.
Let there be motivation and awakening of the church to the social and civic responsibilities, such as voters registration, acquisition of your permanent voters card (PVC), payment of necessary dues (Romans 13:8 “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another”)etc.
Let us be intentional in mobilizing our members for active community development and participation in Governance. This is to buttress the theme of Christian Association of Nigeria the year 2020 “Call to rebuild” Nehemiah 2:17.
Let there be a forum created for regular or periodic meetings of Christian in our Local Government Areas to garner expectations from Governed and feedbacks for Government officials. I will like to have forum for interaction with Leaders and the members of our association at the Local Government level.
Let us create grassroot avenues for us to have input into Governance and seamless reaping of dividends of democracy.
Let us build a people that shall be true ambassadors of Christ at home, worship centres, schools, workplace, market place, in politics and every other place.
Conclusively, let me call our attention to the admonition of God in Ephesians 5:1 which says “Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behaviour from their parents (The Message Version)”. We need to love as we all put our hands on deck in the building of a new Kwara State as envisioned by His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Love considers others. Love is not self-serving, love is not delightful in evil. Love perseveres. Love never fails (1 Corinthians 13). We shall not fail God in life and ministry in Jesus name.
Beloved, you are welcome to this solemn assembly of thanksgiving, communion and endowment of power to do exploit.
God bless you.
