(APCON) seek for a strong collaboration with (Radio Kwara) Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation.

The Leadership of The Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) has appealed for a strong collaboration with the management of the Kwara State Broadcasting Corporation; (Radio Kwara) to stern the Abuse of content rights and unprofessional content dissemination by broadcasting houses In the State.

The State Coordinator of Advertising Practitioners’ Association (APA), Mr Adebowale Adedeji made this appeal during a courtesy visit to the General Manager Radio Kwara; Mr Kayode Aremu in his office. 

He emphasised the need for media houses to Stay focused and uphold the tenets of broadcasting by ensuring that all rules and guidelines are followed before airing any jingle. 

He congratulated the general manager on his appointment and also eulogized him for bringing a remarkable turnaround to the radio station. 

He said the 24 hours transmission, the online radio and improved quality of contents by the station are right steps in the right direction.

Mr Adebowale also emphasised the need for the leadership of radio Kwara to comply with the policy that guides the tenets of content dissemination which empowers APCON to vet jingles before they are aired. This he said is to ensure that only quality contents are disseminated.

While responding, the General Manager, Radio Kwara; Mr Kayode Aremu appreciates the members of APCON for the visit and also took time to highlight some of the things the station have been working on since his tenure began.

Some of the things he highlighted include; the 24hours transmission by the station, Upgrade of the station’s equipment, aggressive revenue generation, the launch of the digital online viewing via the Radio Kwara App, which he encouraged the APCON members to download and listen to.

He said the mandate driving him is to make Radio Kwara the number one radio station in the north-central region of the country which he intends to achieve. 

He also mentioned that the station has the widest reach in the State and is looking forward to increasing its offline awareness and spread to 15 States of the Federation. 

Mr Aremu promised that the station will work with APCON and support them in every way possible.

Mr Abdulrahman; the liaison officer for Kwara State APCON who also spoke during the visit, commended the effort of the General Manager for the improved quality of content and his innovative strides especially the online radio and the 24hrs transmission from the station which he said has positioned the station for global patronage. 

He asked that management should encourage members of marketing staff to join the association as this will build their professionalism.

The Secretary, Advertising Practitioners’ Association (APA) Kwara State Chapter; Mrs Medinat Adigun-Oladotun who also spoke during the visit encourage the general manager to come on board as this will encourage more staff to be a member of the Association.
