CAN rejects the using of Hijab in Mission Schools in Kwara State

COMMUNIQUE OF THE PLENARY MEETING OF KWARA STATE CHRISTIANS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA, PROPRIETORS OF GRANT AIDED SCHOOLS, HEADS OF BLOC, HEADS OF DIFFERENT DENOMINATIONS, AND DELEGATES HELD AT ST JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH TAIWO ROAD DATED 26TH OF FEBRUARY 2021

  1. At the state holders meeting held today, most especially in respect of the issue of wearing of Hijab in Public/Grant Aided schools.
    A. The stakeholders appreciate the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for having a good interactive session with them.

B. We assert that in principle and practice our schools are mission grant aided schools and not general public schools and cannot be technically Islamized starting with the use of Hijab.

C. The body reject and condemn the approval of the use of Hijab in Christian Mission Grant Aided Schools. This will cause discrimination in schools and also allow terrorists to easily identify our children and ward.

D. Christian mission grant aided schools should be returned to the owners promptly as most of these Schools have Churches besides them and unnecessary trespass may lead to break down of law and order.

E. Christian faithfuls should occupy all granted aided schools.

F. Christians should have a day for prayers and fasting for God to interface in the imbroglo.

G. We shall continue to interact and dialogue with the state government on the return of grant aided to the proprietors..

Remain blessed. Signed CAN SECRETARY REV IBITOYE JP AND PRO APOSTLE SHINA IBIYEMI. JP.
