KWACCIMA condemns attack on farmers
The Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KWACCIMA) has observed with great concern the increase in incessant attacks on farmers in the State, particularly the recent one involving Saheed Zakariyu of Bindofu Area of Lafiagi in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State whose hand was cut off for daring to challenge cattle herders on his rice farm.
The Chamber sympathizes with the family of Zakariyu, other fàrmers and victims of these incessant attacks. We call on the State Government and security agencies in the State to intensify efforts at securing lives and properties of our farmers in particular and citizens in general.
The Chamber appreciates the State Governor, His Excellency Alh. Abdulrahman Abdulrazak for his efforts and initiative in setting up the Farm-Kwara Project – a project that has the potential of transforming subsistence farming to Agricbusiness in the State.
These efforts need be complemented with guaranteed security and protection for farmers as our farmers are capable of improving the State’s food inflation position especially in view of the recent Year on Year report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Long live Kwara State
Long live KWACCIMA
